How does physical activity affect the quality of sex life?

According to the 2020 survey “Health, relationships and sex life of Polish women and men during the COVID-19 pandemic” – 66% of respondents are satisfied with the quality of their life. However, it can always be even better, which is why we often look for information on what to do so that the passion does not fade.

More sport means less stress

Many factors lead to successful sex, and a satisfying sex life can be enjoyed by a long-term couple, as well as a budding marriage, a newly established relationship, and singles. Each of us has our own needs, so there is no single recipe and recipe for perfect intercourse that works always and in every situation. However, this does not mean that we do not have universal tips that can significantly improve the quality of sex. One of them is to focus on physical activity and regular sports, which is supported by at least several premises.

And less stress often means a greater desire for intimacy. How does it work? If we are under the influence of strong tension, we may be irritated, nervous, and even feel stomach aches or headaches. Usually, in such a mood, we do not feel like initiating contact. Stress, of course, has a negative impact on our entire body, so it is worth learning how to reduce it. One of the ways is physical activity. During running, aerobic exercise or cycling, the body produces hormones responsible for our mood. After a successful workout, the level of endorphins, dopamine or serotonin, which are related to the feeling of pleasure and happiness, increases. An additional advantage is the reduction of voltage. It is also worth noting that according to the latest WHO recommendations, we should be active for 350 minutes a week, which is about 50 minutes a day. Movement is one of the fundamental aspects of taking care of our health, and when we feel good, we also have more energy, which we are certainly more willing to use on “bed matters”.

Good condition useful during love raptures

For people who avoid physical exertion, sex can be just… tiring. However, if there is a way not to get out of breath so quickly, it is worth using it. Regular physical activity increases our cardiorespiratory efficiency, which in simple translation will prevent us from feeling tired so quickly. It is also worth mentioning that thanks to exercise, our body becomes more flexible, elastic and the skin tightens. It will certainly be easier for people who are stretched to try out new sex positions, thanks to which the quality of intimate raptures will increase.

Sport also beneficial for the figure

Thanks to activity, we can also lose calories, and thus excess kilograms, which, especially during the ongoing pandemic, may have accumulated in some places. Of course, it should be clearly emphasized that the appearance of our body is really of secondary importance. If partners love and respect each other, they certainly also accept each other’s bodies, but it may happen that we impose certain restrictions on ourselves, we have complexes that make us completely unwilling to undress in front of our partner. If we are ashamed, we are also more tense, and therefore it is difficult to derive real pleasure from intercourse. In this case, it is definitely worth including daily physical activity in our lives. Fewer centimeters at the waist, tighter and more elastic skin will certainly also translate into increased self-confidence. Feeling more attractive, we will also be more willing and courageous in the bedroom.

This is not an exaggeration at all. When doing sports, such as running, we oxygenate our body and improve blood supply to vessels and muscles – including  the genitals. The better the blood flow, the better our sexual experience can be. Especially in women, this can result in stronger vaginal lubrication and sensitivity, thus also increasing libido. In addition, physical activity is also an effective way to increase testosterone levels. Couple workouts also work great, thanks to which we spend more time with our partner, and the post-workout release of endorphins can also translate into the continuation of joint exercises in the bedroom.
